Chapter Eight.one --- Reasoning

Bravo! I’ve met one extremely attractive guy pero dahil din dito, nagiging komplikado ang buhay ko.
I succumbed to the comfort the warm water was giving me as it flowed over my naked body. It was as if it could take away all the negativities coiling up inside.
I finished taking a bath 20 minutes more than I usually do. Dumiretso ako sa walk-in closet na katabi lang ng bathroom. Syempre pink motif din ito.
“So what clothes to match up with your bitchy girlfriend I mean ex-girlfriend?” I mumbled as if Miguel was there.
Naturally, I lost the fight, kaya naman kelangan kong magbihis at pupunta daw kami sa condo ni Miguel. Iniwan ko sya dun na maglinis ng kusina. It’s the least thing he could do after messing up my Saturday.
I decided to wear a loose off shoulder long sleeve lavender top and faded blue skinny jeans. Kinuha ko yung red doll shoes ko at isinuot. Naglagay din ako ng konting pulbos at red lipstick. I may not wear make up all the time but I just couldn’t go out without accentuating my lips. Confident na akong maganda kapag ganun. Charr!!
I left the room at diretso sa sala. Nakita kong nakaupo si Miguel kung saan sya nakaupo kagabi, engaged in watching the business news ulit.
Naalala ko tuloy kung paano ako nashock kagabi…
--- FLASH BACK ---
“What??????” Alex yelled in surprise. Of course she wasn’t going to allow him to stay, he basically was still a stranger. So she tried to drag him out of the apartment.
“No you can’t stay here! You go home!”
He was d**n heavy. He wasn’t resisting but his body stayed limp adding more weight for Alex to haul.
“Siguradong nasa condo ko si Kathleen at ayaw ko muna syang makita. I don’t have any other place to go.” Of course Miguel was lying. Marami pa syang puwedeng puntahan.
“I don’t believe you! Go to Andrew’s place! Or your parents’! Just not here!” Alex was still pulling him, parang mangiyak ngiyak na ang dalaga for no matter how much strength she exerted, di man lang nya nailayo si Miguel sa upuan.
“It’s super late already. Ayokong istorbohin yung mga yun. Be reasonable Zea, only a few hours lang naman.” He had a logical point there and sounded sincere kaya naman napatigil sa paghila si Alex.
“It’s not like I have other reasons why I wanted to stay here.” Miguel added, smirking.
Alex huffed. “Gago!” She slapped his right arm. “Diyan ka sa sofa matulog. Good night!” She started to walk towards her room pero hinawakan ni Miguel ang kamay nya.
Her eyes widened. Napatawa si Miguel sa reaction ng dalaga. “I’m not gonna do anything. Relax. Kaya lang Alex… uhm… di kasi ako makakatulog sa sofa and di naman ako kasya dyan di ba.”
Pareho silang napatingin sa sofa. It was in fact very small for him.
“I wonder if you have a spare bedroom around.”
Alex thought for a moment. “Wait here.” At kumaliwa sya para puntahan ang kuwarto ni Lexy. Lumipat na si Lexy sa bahay ni Xas pero every now and then umuuwi pa rin ito dito.
She was frustrated after seeing the room. It was a total mess. There were pieces of clothes scattered all over the floor, on the bed, and on the table. Isama mo pa ang mga papel, plastic, gadgets at kung anu-ano pa. She groaned. It would be impossible to clean the room. Lexy naman! Bakit ba hindi ka marunong maglinis!
She proceeded to the other room. This is tidy all right, pero hindi nya puwedeng patulugin si Miguel dito. This room possessed too much secrets.
Napabuntong hininga siya. No choice, she could only offer her room. Ugh! I don’t need to offer my room. I’ll just force him to sleep on the couch! Nakikitulog lang naman sya!
And so she made her decision. Bumalik sya sa sala para kausapin si Miguel but he was already sleeping on her not-too-big couch. Nakabaluktot ang katawan nito, halatang nahihirapan. Yakap-yakap nito ang katawan, halatang nilalamig.
My conscience! Why now? “Hey Migz.” She lightly shook his shoulder.
“Hmm…” His eyes still closed.
“Migz!”
“Wh… what?” He whispered compelling his eyes to open.
“Don’t sleep here. You’ll get a major muscle sore.” She pulled him to his feet.
Nauna na syang naglakad papunta sa kanyang kuwarto. Sumunod naman si Miguel.
She was hesitant but still opened the door. Tumambad ang pink room nya.
“Whoa! Pink!” Nakasunod na komento ng lalaki. “Whose room is this?”
Alex entered a smaller room which appeared to be her closet and took a pair of pajamas. “Mine.”
Miguel was taken aback. “Whoa! Wait dear. Are you saying?... together? Here in your room?” No matter how he tried to conceal it, there was a tinge of anticipation in his voice.
Binatukan sya ni Alex. “Asa!” Pumasok ang dalaga sa bathroom at kinuha ang toothbrush nito. “Mabait ako ngayon kaya dito ka na lang sa kuwarto ko.”
Akmang lalabas na ang dalaga pero pinigilan siya ulit ni Miguel. “Wait! And where are you staying? I mean I can still sleep on the couch.” He was concerned.
“Don’t worry it’s okay. Comfortable din naman yung bed dun sa kabilang room.”
“Then I’ll sleep there.” Miguel was quick to walk out pero this time pinigilan sya ni Alex.
“No. No! Just stay here. It’s… uhm… Lexy’s room, I’m sure she wouldn’t want any guy sleeping there.”
Napa-OH si Miguel. “Are you sure?” Tanong ulit nito.
“Yes I’m sure.” Kulit naman nito.
“I mean are you sure you don’t want to stay here with me? It’s a pretty large bed” He was back to teasing.
“Gago!” At tuluyan nang umalis ang dalaga.

“Migz, let’s go!” Dinisrupt ko siya sa panunuod. Dumiretso ako sa pintuan at binuksan ito. Nakita ko syang tumayo pero hanggang dun lang. Di man lang siya nageffort maglakad papunta sa akin.
He was staring at me, admiration evident in his eyes. “Look, I know I’m cute. You have to get used to that. Now let’s go.” Wow Alex, confidence overload. Hahaha!
He tittered, “Ah yes, of course. Just like the other women I’ve dated, you’re worthy being called my girlfriend.” He turned the TV off and walked pass me out of the pad.
Confidence balloon deflated, Irritated balloon inflated. Ambilis makapagpabago ng mood itong lalaking toh ha. Kaasar!
“Correction, pseudo girlfriend okay.” I reminded him. I locked the door at dumiretso na kami sa elevator.
“Are those glasses graded or just for fashion purposes?” Puna nito sa suot kong salamin.
“Graded. I don’t want to wear contacts now. Medyo irritated ang mga mata ko.” Sagot ko dito habang inaantay namin ang pagdating ng elevator.
“I see. Ayaw mo ipa-laser na lang?”
We went inside the elevator. “Part of the plan pero wag muna ngayon.”
“Bakit?” Andaming tanong!
“Do you always ask too many questions?” I couldn’t stop my mouth from questioning.
He laughed. “Remember I’m a businessman, I always love questions. Besides I’ll get to know you better through this.”
Nauna syang lumabas papunta sa kanyang sasakyan. He was still wearing the white outfit I gave him; in his hand was a paper bag with his clothes from yesterday.
In all honesty, he’s one attractive mammal. No scratch that. He’s one gorgeous God! Who wouldn’t be enticed by his appeal and the air of sexiness he was generating? Puwede magtaas ng kamay? Ako, hindi affected! Hahaha. Well, sorry Cupid it looked like your arrow just missed the target.
“So bakit ayaw mo pang magpalaser?” He asked again as we left the building.
I rolled my eyes. Interrogator lang? “Basta, ayaw ko muna. Minsan gusto ko yung feeling ng nakasalamin eh, makes me look smart.” Okay, nonsense na sagot para sa isang nonsense na tanong.
He chuckled. Tawa ng tawa naman itong lalaking toh.
“I’m not sure if Kathleen will still be in the house, but just in case she’s still there, you have to be tough okay? Not that I’m worried though. I know you have a strong fist.” He briefly looked at me and winked.
This time it was my turn to smile. “Don’t worry. I’ll be a very good actress.”
20 minutes. We finally arrived at his condominium. Azotea Towers. Definitely for the privileged rich people. He stopped near the entrance and got out. Sumabay na rin ako dito. He gave the car keys to one of the attendants and dumiretso na kami sa lobby.
There were a handful of people when we entered the building, mostly employees and I could see how they stared at us with careful inspecting eyes. Diretso lang sa paglakad si Miguel papuntang elevator at yun din ang ginawa ko. Papasara pa lang ito pero I could already hear murmurs.
“Such a reputation you have Miguel. Pang ilan na ba akong babaeng dinala mo dito at kung makatingin yung mga yun eh parang ewan lang?”
“Hmm, let me think? 500th? No wait, 1oooth? Ack! I really can’t remember.” He said it straightforwardly I couldn’t help but gasped in astonishment.
“Seriously?!!?” May tao palang ganito kaplayboy?!? No wonder ganun makatingin yung mga tao sa baba!
“Seriously.”
Yikes!! I have a super-mega-ultra womanizer beside me! I was still stunned, naawa ako bigla sa mga babaeng nabiktima nya. I mourn for you all!
Then his laughter echoed in the elevator. “Grabe ka naman Zea, hindi naman ako ganun kaplayboy noh. Yes I’ve dated and flirted with a lot of women but not that many. And I don’t take them all here.”
Ang sarap batukan ng lalaking toh. “So ilan nga?” I curiously asked again.
Tumigil ang elevator sa 33rd floor. Lumabas kami at sumunod lang ako sa kanya. “Hmm… including Kathleen, probably four. All half serious ones excluding Kathleen, inistalk nya lang kasi ako kaya nalaman nya itong bahay ko and since then pinagpilitan nyang dito na rin tumira.”
I gave a satisfied nod.
“When I say half serious it meant it lasted for at least half a year. I never really had a relationship lasting more than a year.” Ah okay, nobody’s asking you.
“We’re here.” He declared. Nasa harap kami ng isang mahogany double sized door. He took out his swipe card. “Ready?” I gave him a confirmatory nod. He took my hand and intertwined our fingers. Then he swiped the card and pushed the door wide open.
“What the f*ck?????”
“Oh my God!!”
